Digital Media Specialist

Are you a social media expert who loves telling stories and creating eye-catching content? The NC Pork Council is seeking a digital media specialist with best-in-class communications skills to lead our social media efforts and tell the story of the NC pork industry. Expertise in writing, storytelling, graphic design, photography and videography is desired. A love of agriculture is an added bonus.

Social Media Responsibilities
● Develop and implement social media strategies, including organic and paid digital campaigns
● Create unique and compelling written and visual content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, “X” formerly Twitter, TikTok and emerging social networks.
● Develop a social media content calendar, monitor content performance across social media channels, and lead real-time engagement with social media followers
● Compile monthly social media performance reports for the NC Pork Council team and board
● Follow current and emerging social media trends to evolve social media strategies

Content Creation Responsibilities
● Develop unique content and stories that showcase the organization’s key messages and support its goals
● Tell stories through images captured at events, on farms, and of people
● Shoot and edit video content, ranging from reels and digital advertising to long-form videos that strengthen the pork industry’s image
● Lead design of digital assets, brand campaigns, infographics, motion graphics and other materials for use across various communications platforms
● Use creative tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite to turn ideas into compelling narratives incorporating the established NC Pork Council brand voice and identity

Other Communications Responsibilities
● Act as the ncpork.org website lead, providing written and visual updates, generating timely blog content, updating events pages, creating campaign landing pages, ensuring content follows SEO best practices, and providing monthly website analytics
● Lead the production of the quarterly NC Pork Report magazine, including mapping out editorial content and managing the design and print production with our magazine partners
● Monitor media, blogs and other news platforms for stories relating to the NC pork industry
● Actively communicate the organization’s giving and donation impacts across our consumer-focused platforms
● Support NC Pork Council team members with communications tactics, including printed mailings, news releases, sponsorship campaigns, event promotions, media response, etc.
● Work with communications professionals, freelancers and agency partners to complete projects on an as-needed basis
● Regularly engage with communications staff at the National Pork Board and National Pork Producers Council including attendance of national meetings.
● Work cross-functionally with other staff to support the goals of the NC Pork Council

Preferred Qualifications
● A minimum of two years performing the responsibilities of a digital media specialist.
● Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact, website management (WordPress and SquareSpace), social media scheduling tools/applications, and common software programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Job Details
● Location: This position is based in Raleigh, NC. It is an in-office position with some allowances for work from home (not more than 20% of the time). It involves occasional regional and national travel, including overnights.
● Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required
● Salary: Commensurate with Experience
